History:

The car is one of those which rarely has a full record of previous owners and even the current (until now) owner being on the also original buff logbook.

The car was first registered with Rolls Royce in Pyms Lane, Crewe. It was then reregistered by the chief accountant at Vickers Armstrong on 12/6/51 where it remained until the next owner, a Mr Barman of Melbourne Derbys was registered in 1954. It was then sold in 1961 to Charles Robinson of Tenbury. The car then changed hands in 1966 before being registered with the current owner in 1978.

It has then been owned and maintained by the family ever since and mostly by the long-time owner who more recently passed it on to his son. He however does not have the same passion and hence it has come onto the market after 41 years!

The car has been well maintained and drives as any competent Mk6 owner would expect. There is a full record of MoT tests and hence mileage although this is not correct in terms of mileage covered by the current engine. This was changed some years ago and runs very well. The original engine was destined to be rebuilt and comes with the car which has been re-bored but is dismantled.

It can be concluded therefore that the car can be driven anywhere as it is with the future prospect of having the original engine rebuilt with the cost offset but then selling the existing engine as currently fitted.

This work could be arranged by hi-classics and the “spare” engine stored ad infinitum until needed if necessary.
